ABOUT

With an International Relations and Political Science degree from the University of California, San Diego and a professional background in media; tech; and finance, Claire Shay is the founder of the Reinventing Sustainability, a brand strategy dedicated to helping that lifestyle brands integrate sustainability and social justice into their digital presence.

Claire first felt motivated to start Reinventing Sustainability after learning the truth about the ecological devastation caused by the fashion and beauty industry. As an immigrant to the United States herself, she saw firsthand the economic inequality and social injustices that many immigrants and children of immigrants faced. Upon discovering the power of social media through launching her Instagram in 2017, Claire sought to change the climate justice conversation through using fashion and beauty as tools to create change. She leveraged the backdrop of New York City to tell the story of self empowerment through the perspective of a young woman with no safety net finding a way to take back her power.

Over the years, Claire has worked and collaborated with industry experts in social justice and sustainability. She is a long-time supporter of the PVBLIC Foundation, having participated in events at the United Nations focused on creating everlasting change in the fight for climate and social justice. Claire has also worked with numerous fashion, beauty, and lifestyle companies to drive forward their efforts towards corporate social responsibility for climate change and social justice.

Claire can be found on social media sharing her tips, reviews, and honest thoughts on everything fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Her personal mission is create accessibility and attainability within the social impact space, as well as taking an intersectional perspective when discussing climate and social justice… all while chatting away about skincare, beauty and everyday lifestyle.
